Holy Shizz Nails!

We had a go at nebula nails as a friend of ours was curious about how to make them. S’s nebula toe nails inspired me to have a go myself, except on a false nail as I was short of time to do all my fingernails!

I used the following nail polishes in various makes.

The main thing is to have a selection of dark and light colours, along with one or two brighter shades. Shimmery colours work best. I also liked using a glitter top coat with large piece of glitter, as they added to the star effect. You’ll also need a make up applicator sponge and a detailer brush (you can use a dotting tool or pin head if need be).

I started with a black base (Rimmel Black Cab) and used the make up sponge to put a thin layer of Rimmel Black Cherries on top.

I then layered other colours depending on the kind of nebula I felt like creating. Take some time to look at astrophotography to find inspiration for your nails.

Don’t worry if you mess it up (like I did!) as you can re-layer the darker colours to eliminate any mistakes.

Use your detailer brush/dotting tool/pin head to create white stars. Try experimenting with gems if you want to add bling to your nebula. 

I finished it off with a coat of blue glitter polish. It was actually a really cheap polish that I found at a street market, but the mixture of large and small glitter helps add to the ‘starry’ effect of the nebula.

It’ll take some practise to get these outer space nails to look exactly how you want them, but the universe is a crazy place — have fun and experiment!
